Congratulations to ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ Teacher-Librarian Brad Fallis, 2024 Outstanding Teacher-Librarian of the Year!

The ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ would like to congratulate teacher-librarian Brad Fallis who has been recognized by the Manitoba School Library Association (MSLA) as the 2024 Outstanding Teacher-Librarian of the Year (awarded in Memory of Lois Gervais).

This annual provincial award acknowledges a practicing teacher-librarian who is making an outstanding contribution to school librarianship in Manitoba.  Brad is being honoured this year by MSLA for “the high caliber of his work, commitment to professional development, and demonstrated leadership” at both Darwin School and Victor H.L. Wyatt School in the ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ (ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥).

As a teacher-librarian in ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥, Brad Fallis is modernizing school library culture by emphasizing collaborative partnerships and rich, inquiry-based learning experiences that are both engaging and relevant for today’s learners.  In Brad’s care, the Library Learning Commons nurtures curiosity, inquiry, discovery, and creativity by providing all students and staff with a foundation for learning how to learn.

Brad describes the role of “teacher-librarian as an important leadership role in schools through our diverse roles — activator of school-wide reading initiatives, info-tech mentor, and instructional partner. We are risk-takers and catalysts who work alongside classroom teachers to try new ideas to create dynamic learning environments.”

The award will be formally presented to Brad on May 21st, 2024, at McMaster House (Manitoba Teacher’s Society) during the Manitoba School Library Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
