Transitioning from X to Bluesky

At the Dec. 17 Board meeting, a motion was passed to move the ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ social media account X to Bluesky Social, effective immediately.
The ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ (ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥) is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students, staff, and community members. Given the evolving social media landscape, the ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥, and all its associated accounts, are immediately stepping away from using X and transitioning to .
Recent changes to X’s platform have led to concerns regarding the inclusivity and integrity of online interactions, the rise of misinformation, and toxic rhetoric diminishing public trust. Bluesky’s current focus on decentralization, transparency, and fostering a safer online environment aligns more closely with ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥'s values. In addition, X’s updated Terms of Service grant the platform broader rights to collect, store, and share user data, including biometric information and location data, raising serious privacy concerns, particularly for a public institution like ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ that serves families, students, and staff who may not have consented to such extensive data collection.
