ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ Student Advisory Board leads way with inaugural leadership meeting
On Tuesday, April 15, our ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ Student Advisory Board hosted their first ever ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ Student Leadership Forum. The event started with a personalized Land Acknowledgement by one of our Board Members. It continued with introductions, followed by each school’s individual presentations. High schools from across the division showcased their strengths and identified areas for improvement within their school communities.
The event included a breakout session where students and their teacher advisors separated. Students mingled, collaborated with peers from other schools, built skills, shared stories, and enjoyed discussions on building confident leaders and stronger school and division communities.
Teachers attended a presentation titled "Moving from No to How," where they heard from students about the importance of teacher-student collaboration. Various scenarios were discussed, focusing on how teachers can better support students in turning ideas into reality.
Students and teachers reconvened to debrief and share their key takeaways from the event, culminating in a closing speech. The students brought immense enthusiasm, school pride, and a strong willingness to learn.
The day was filled with collaboration, connection, and inspiration, highlighted by the unique aspect that the event was created by students for students (and teachers)! This event marks just the beginning, as it was the first of its kind. Students are eager to maintain this momentum, and the ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ Student Advisory Board is committed to continuing to inspire future student leaders.
Special thanks to the ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ Student Advisory Board, their administrative support team, and various contributors from across the division for making this event a tremendous success!
