Ian was elected in the June 6, 2024, by-election for ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ ward 1. 

Ian is the father of two children, Max, 9, and Owen, 12. Both attend French Immersion schools in the ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥. He, his wife Sarah, and their kids reside in the Norwood Flats. 

Ian is an elementary school teacher with 19 years of experience. He currently instructs grades 1 and 2 at Hampstead Community School in the Elmwood Neighborhood. He runs a community bike hub from his classroom, offering bike repair lessons to kids and adults in the Elmwood community. Ian is an active member of the ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ community, leading a bike bus to École Provencher. Additionally, he serves as a leader with the Third Winnipeg Cub/Scout group based out of Champlain Community Club. 

Ian and his family choose active and sustainable modes of transportation for their daily commute, including walking, biking, taking the bus, and occasionally driving Peg City Car Co-Op vehicles. Ian is deeply committed to promoting a safe and comfortable commuting environment for people of all ages and abilities. He has volunteered with Bike Winnipeg for over a decade and currently chairs its advocacy committee. Ian has also collaborated with grassroots activists at Safe Speeds Winnipeg, advocating for the adoption of a default 30 km/h residential speed limit in the city. 

In his spare time, Ian enjoys outdoor activities with friends and family. He looks forward to the Winnipeg Folk Festival in July, camping trips, and playing frisbee golf at Happyland Park with his sons.
